Summer 2012

WM Lacrosse off-season activities are about to begin...  all players are independently play Wall Ball and participate in pick-up games (PUG) throughout the off-season.  And some players attend camps and participate in leagues.

PUG
A PUG is a informal game/practice set up by WM rising seniors.

Some PUGs are full contact and require full gear.  Others are minimal contact requiring just a stick & gloves. Attendance ranges from 4 to 25 players.  When attendees are low, the team concentrates on drills and skill building. When there are more than 8 players, a game is played.  PUGs are posted as Events on WM Lacrosse.

Camps
In the past, players have both gone to camps on their own and made arrangements to go with teammates.  One camp a few boys have gone to and benefited from is University of Maryland Instructional Camp.

This summer a couple of the players are going to the Southern States Elite Camp.  This will be our first experience with this camp, but will give our players the chance to be coached by Division III coaches.

TripleEDGE
The last two years WM Lacrosse has had a varsity team in the TripleEDGE league.  We play varsity and junior varsity teams together to bring up the level of play for both teams.  Summer start-up can be a little intimidating for our junior varsity, but by the following spring, all players develop their own brand of lacrosse swagger.


The team is coached by Joe Pizzini for the summer and then, by Mark Thompson for the fall and winter.  Games begin the week of June 25 and end the week of August 6.  All games are played at the Maryland  Soccerplex (Germantown) on weekday evenings with start times between 5:30 and 9:30. There are no games on the weekends and parents car pool.


Registration is going on now.  The fee for 7 games is $195.  HOWEVER, register before May 20, 2012 and the cost is discounted to $165.
